Harold "Brownie" Brown

Harold “Brownie” Brown died July 29, 2012, in Citrus Springs, Florida. A native of Mt. Summit, Indiana, Brown was a well-known area mechanic who began his career early on in his father’s automotive repair store in New Castle. He worked for 30 years at Gaddis Chrysler-Plymouth in Muncie before retiring in 2005. He was a 1960 graduate of Mt. Summit High School and served in the U.S. Army. He also taught automotive technology at Ivy Tech in Muncie for several years prior to his retirement.
He will be greatly missed by his two sons, Dr. Carlton G. Brown from New York, NY; Lt. Col Sheldon (Kathleen) Brown and grandson Aidan from Tucson, AZ; his mother, Katherine Brown, from Muncie; brothers Gerald (Sandra) Brown, of Ocala, Florida, and Clifford (Sandra) Brown from Modoc; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Maria “Willy” Brown; his father, Carlton P. Brown; and his sister, George Ann Day.
Services will be at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Friends may call from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2012 at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2012 at Mt. Summit Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion with an active duty contingent from the United States Army.
