Harold Edwin "Ed" Lee

Harold Edwin “Ed” Lee, age 86, of New Castle, went to meet the Lord in the early morning hours of Friday, May 4, 2012 at St. Vincent hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on October 5, 1925 in New Castle to the late Harold B. and Mary E. (Baughn) Lee. He has gone to be with the two loves of his life (Annabelle and Gladys) as well as many other loved ones.

Ed graduated from New Castle High School in 1944. He was a Korean War veteran in the U.S. Army where he achieved the rank of Corporal in the Army Engineer Corps. Ed attended college at Ball State in Muncie. He retired on April 1, 1987 from Modernfold (formerly New Castle Products) after 35 year of service. Ed was an active life-time member of New Castle First Friends Meeting and volunteered at the Salvation Army. He was a volunteer and board member for the Wilbur Wright Birthplace Museum in Millville. In his youth, he was an excellent baseball player for the New Castle City League, softball player for the church league and was an avid bowler. He was a hugger, a teaser, loved and was loved by his family and friends. He enjoyed telling stories of his time in Korea and growing up in New Castle.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a brother: Warren (wife, Mary) Lee of Las Vegas, NV; a sister: Harriett (husband, Sam) Bussell of Ladera Ranch, CA; children: Don (wife, Carol) Lee of Augusta, GA, Jeannie (husband, Rick) Roysdon of Indianapolis, Steve (wife, Nora) Rust of New Castle, Jayne Bowen of New Castle and Mike (wife, Jamie) Rust of New Castle; grandchildren: Jesse Lee of Indianapolis, Nic (wife, Judi) Lee of Muncie, Angie (husband, Chris Cochran) Lee of Avon, IN, Nick (wife, Josie) Rust of San Diego, CA, Rachel (husband, Keith) Johnisee of New Castle, Marcus (wife, Lisa) Bowen of Colorado Springs, CO, Barbara (husband, Hector) Diaz, Jeremy Rust, Jacob and Katie Rust, all of New Castle; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews, great grand-nieces and great-grand nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife: Annabelle (Clampitt) Lee; second wife: Gladys (Chew Rust) Lee; a brother Glenn Lee and a sister: Martha Sue Lee.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 7, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Curt Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2012 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Friends Meeting, Wilbur Wright Birthplace Memorial, or the Salvation Army with envelopes available at the funeral home.
