Harold Massengale, age 56, of Indianapolis, passed away Monday, September 1, 2014 at his residence. He was born October 4, 1957 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Robert and Glenda (Duvall) Massengale.
He graduated in 1975 from New Castle Chrysler High School. He was an air traffic controller and retired from the United States Army. He received several medals and awards including the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Medal. Harold coached youth baseball and basketball and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Leann Massengale of New Castle; daughter, Haley Massengale (fiancé, Kyile Mousty) of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Tylyn Cash Massengale, and Braylon Vincent Mousty; siblings, Carolyn (Tom) Yoder of Selma, Donald (Beth) Massengale of New Castle and Benny Massengale; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Tyler Massengale; a brother, Ronald Massengale.
Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday, September 8, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Private burial will follow. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
