Harriett Lavaughn “Huff” Armstrong, 92, of Spiceland passed away Friday, February 22, 2013 at her residence. She was born November 14, 1920 in Henry County, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Winifred (Hoover) Huff.
A 1938 graduate of Spiceland High School, Harriett was valedictorian of her class. She retired from Perfect Circle/Dana Corp. after over 26 years of service. A long time member of the Spiceland Friends Meeting, she sang in the choir for many years. She was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star, and also the Red Hatters Society. Harriett loved to decorate for Christmas, enjoyed quilting and also crocheting.
Survivors include two sons: Greg Armstrong and Jeff Armstrong (special friend, Pam Myers) all of Spiceland; grandson: Jeffrey Armstrong II of Spiceland; special friend and caregiver: Rita Shock; sister-in-law: Ada Leer of Anderson; nieces: Sharri (husband, Carl) Breeding of New Castle, Gail Ann (husband, Clint) Cagle of Arizona; nephew: David (wife, Trish) Wake of Texas; several great nieces and nephews; two first cousins: June Lennon of Middletown and Marilyn Montgomery of New Castle; two good friends: Mary Coffman of Spiceland and Mildred Gephart of New Castle.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: George Armstrong on April 9, 2010; and two sisters: Helen Wilson and Peggy Wake.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Spiceland Friends Meeting with David Brock officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday February 26, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
