Haskel Back, 87, of Carthage went to be with the Lord Monday, June 1, 2009 at Henry County Hospital following an extended illness. He was born June 14, 1921 in Olive Hill, KY the son of the late Taylor and Mary Back.
Haskel retired from Container Corporation in Carthage following 17 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, playing guitar, family cookouts, music and his church, Faith Chapel Church in Knightstown.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years: June (Owens) Back of Carthage; three sons: Stanley (wife: Judy) Back of Shirley; Stirl Back of Knightstown and Billy (wife: Gretchen) Back of Knightstown; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
Services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Randy Gross officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Carthage. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Friday, June 5 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.
