Hazel (McClurg) Floyd, age 91, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at Henry County Hospital following a brief illness. She was born August 8, 1918 in Farmers, KY a daughter of the late Luther and Elizabeth (Choate) McClurg.
A resident of New Castle since the early 1940’s, she worked at both RCA and Western Electric in Indianapolis. She had attended the Church of God. She loved family functions and all her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She also loved her Schnauzer dogs.
She is survived by her son, Winford V. (wife, Ginger) Norman of Naples, FL; a grandson, Tod A. Norman of Detroit, MI, a granddaughter, Debora Norman of Noblesville, IN; great grandsons, Tyler and Trent Norman of Detroit, MI; sisters, Opal Vaught of New Castle and Iloma Lewis of Cincinnati, OH; several nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roy S. Floyd, whom she married on April 5, 1947; three brothers, Malcom, Orville and Carl McClurg, two sisters, Juanita McClurg and Lovell Vaught, and a grandson, Tim Norman.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 2, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2009 at the funeral home.
