Helen Pennington, age 91, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the Heritage House in New Castle. She was born May 18, 1924 in Jonesville, Virginia to the late John and Lula (Lyttle) Yeary.
She moved to New Castle in 1969 from Virginia. She had attended Whittier Lane Baptist Church. Helen loved gardening, working in her yard, enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her sons, Douglas (Peggy) Pennington of New Castle and John (Shirley) Pennington of New Castle; daughters, Linda (Dean) Slicer and Brenda Barricks both of New Castle; seven grandchildren, Sandy, Cindy (Carl) Vogler, Jeff (Robin) Pennington, Lisa (Gary) Kendall, Noel (April) Barricks, Chatta Hicks and Daniel (Kelley) Brown; eleven great grandchildren; a sister, Deeta Stoneman; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Yeary and three sisters, Ora Grizzle, Sarah Jones and Jeanetta (Charles) Panzarella;.
Services will be at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Brother Frank Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 pm. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association, 50 E 91st ST STE 100, Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830.
