Helen Sorrell

Helen L. Sorrell, 94, of Knightstown, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Hickory Creek at New Castle following an extended illness. She was born November 3, 1915 in Connersville the daughter of the late Ernest and Daisy (Archey) Watt.

A 1933 graduate of Connersville High School, Helen was employed at P. N. Hirsch & Co. Department Store in Knightstown for 20 years. She was a member of the Knightstown Christian Church and the Knightstown Home Economics Club for many years. After retirement, she and her husband lived in Florida for over 20 years. She moved back to Knightstown in 1991 after the death of her husband.

She is survived by a daughter: Christie Jarrett of Knightstown; eight grandchildren: Barbara Jarrett of FL; Mark Jarrett and Gretchen Jarrett both of KY; John Sorrell of Knightstown; Kathy Spears of SC; Janie Sorrell of Knightstown; Angela Brown of Henderson, NV; J.D. Sorrell of KY; several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: William Christy Sorrell; two sons: Jim Sorrell in 2005 and William Robert Sorrell in infancy; two brothers and two sisters.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 AM Thursday, September 2, 2010 at the Knightstown Christian Church with Richard Thayer and Anthony Darling officiating. Burial will be in Glen Cove Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knightstown Christian Church Benevolence Committee PO Box 37 Knightstown, IN 46148.
