Henry Albert Ripberger
Henry Albert Ripberger, 86, of New Castle, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 24th. He was born on June 27th, 1938, at home in Milton, Indiana, to the late Ethel (Simmermeyer) Ripberger and Joseph Ripberger. Henry graduated from Milton High School in 1956.
In 1978, Henry married Beth McKechnie, and together they raised three children: Heather Corine Ripberger (Shanna Marsh), Sarah Jean Meador (Shawn Meador), and Joseph Michael Ripberger (Ellie Ripberger). He was a proud and devoted grandfather to eight grandchildren: Nicholas Meador (fiancé Mychaela Adkison), Sydney Meador, Kyle and Braden Frankland, Rosa and Rico Martinez-Marsh, and Violet Rose and Luke Henry Ripberger.
Henry is survived by his loving wife Beth, his sisters Barbara Hartman and Charlotte May, and his brother-in-law Michael McKechnie (Jaime Reyes). He was predeceased by his parents and his older brother, Joseph Ripberger.
A successful businessman, Henry co-owned Val Corporation from 1960 to 1997 and later became the broker and owner of Crossroads Real Estate, where he worked until his retirement in 2008. He was a lifelong golfer and a dedicated member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Elks Lodge in New Castle. He served for several years as a member of the Memorial Park Board.
Henry’s commitment to family was unwavering. He ensured all of his children completed their college educations and established funds so that all of his 8 grandchildren can access higher education without debt. Known for his sharp wit, generosity, creativity, and resourcefulness, Henry left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
A celebration of Henry’s life will be held on Saturday, November 2, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the memorial service beginning at 3:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Henry’s memory to the Christian Love Help Center in New Castle (402 S. 18th street, New Castle, IN, 47362) or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (MultipleSclerosisSociety@engage.mymsaa.org).
