Herbert Myers Glossbrenner

August 20, 1942 — August 18, 2013

Herbert Myers Glossbrenner, 70, of Los Angeles, went home to be with God on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013.

Born in Indianapolis on Aug. 20, 1942, he was the son of Frederick Wymond Glossbrenner and Adah Irene (Strickler) Glossbrenner. A born-again Christian, his faith was an important part of his life.

He graduated from New Castle High School, worked in Indiana and moved to California in 1980. Active in physical fitness, he participated in weight lifting training and competition. His dedication to the sport found him traveling to national and international meets. He personally held national titles in his weight class.

In LA, he worked for and later became a managing editor of the International Olympic Lifter magazine. He covered the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles and traveled abroad as a reporter for the magazine. He enjoyed his many years in California and the adventures he shared with his dog Rowdy. He leaves behind family and friends in Indiana and California.

Survivors include his sister, Patricia Anne Glossbrenner Burton; nieces Susan Stamper and Maribeth Taylor of New Castle; and nephew, Michel Burton of Seattle.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Frederick Glossbrenner.

Private services will be held at Green Hills Memory Gardens with Pastor Jim Becker officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
