Herbert E Peavie

Herbert E. Peavie, age 90, of New Castle, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, June 06, 2013 at Glen Oaks Health Campus, where he received wonderful care. He was born March 9, 1923 in Monticello, Kentucky to the late James R. and Mary Elizabeth (Smith) Peavie.

He attended Parnell School in Parnell, Kentucky. He retired from Detroit Steel in 1987 following 7 years and had worked at Trainers 30 years prior, he had also worked on the Cumberland Dam. He was a member of 26th Street Apostolic Pentecostal Church for over 60 years. He was an excellent gardener and loved to squirrel and rabbit hunt.

Survivors include his wife of 6 years, Josephine Peavie of New Castle; children, Shirley (Monty) Smith of New Castle, James (Betty) Peavie of New Castle, Marilyn Marlow of Missouri and Gary (Brenda) Peavie of Somerset, KY; grandchildren, Dennis Peavie, Scott Peavie, Amanda Shirley, Jessica Smith, Ronald David Marlow, Christopher Marlow, Jeremy Peavie and Chasity Allen; Many great grandchildren; brothers, Jimmie Peavie; three step children, Naomi (Richard) Smith, Debbie (Jamie) Logston and David Cole; two step grandchildren, Darren Green and Daniel Pierce; and four step great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 62 years, Jettie L. Peavie; brothers, Charlie, Herschel, and Roy Peavie; sister, Flonnie Neal; son-in-law, Ron Marlow; a step-granddaughter, Michelle Cole.

Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2013 Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Gary McCutchen officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery.
