Holly R. Van Meter, 76, of Carthage passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024 at the Willows of New Castle. She was born April 18, 1947 in Saginaw, MI to the late Ernest and Peggy (Berger) Hinterman.
A pastor’s wife, Holly was a registered nurse and worked as head of ICU at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield until her retirement. She was a member of the Wesleyan Church and she served as camp nurse at the district summer camps for many years. Holly also taught in Junior Church and was a beautiful singer. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, cross stitching, reading and working puzzles. Holly especially loved spending time with her family and traveling at home and abroad.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years: Lloyd Van Meter, whom she married, July 16, 1966; 3 children, Matthew Van Meter of Carthage, Amy Santarelli of Delaware, OH, and Timothy Van Meter of New Castle.; grandchildren, Andrea (Tyler) Serr, David (Jessica) Van Meter, Christopher Van Meter, Katherine Van Meter, Hannah Santarelli, Peyton “Nino” Santarelli and Timothy “Michael” (Tamara) Van Meter; 3 great grandchildren, Emma, Rowan and Evelyn; 2 brothers, Christopher (Marcia) Hinterman of Michigan and Theodore “Ted” (Juanita) Hinterman of Lake Field, MI; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Sondra Hinterman.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Mark Wooten officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Saturday, prior to the services. Memorial contributions may be sent to Memorial Wesleyan Church, 115 Fairway Drive, New Castle, IN 47362.
