Homer H. "Howie" Davis, Jr.

Homer H. “Howie” Davis Jr., 86, a resident of New Castle passed away Saturday, November 2, 2024 at his residence. He was born October 28, 1938 in Muncie to the late Homer Howard and Florence Mae (Buie) Davis, Sr. 

A graduate of Muncie Central High School, he owned and operated H&S Distributers for over 35 years. Howie had been in the route sales service industry all of his life. He was a former member of the Muncie Moose Lodge and had attended First Baptist Church in New Castle. An avid Cincinnati Reds fan, Homer also enjoyed bowling, dancing, traveling, golfing and fishing. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting activities. He was also very fond of his many dogs over the years, and presently Moose and Jada, as well as his cat, Timmy.

Survivors include ten children: Teresa (John) Pierce of Indianapolis, Michael (Linda) Romine of New Castle, Pam (Chuck) Green of New Castle, Barbara (Jack) Thurman of New Castle, Paula (Jimmy) Statzer of New Castle and Sara (Jake) Hart of Indianapolis, Keith (Julie) Davis of Selma, Dawn Davis (Lori Reed) of Farmland, Kelli (Ron) Braun of Parker City and Michelle Sexton of New Castle; twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren, five great great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Howie was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years: Shirley (Beck) Davis and four siblings.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with his Pastor Mark Herbkersman officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service.
