Howard Edward Lundy, age 78, left his beloved family for his heavenly home on Monday, May 20th. He was born June 22, 1945, in New Castle, Indiana.
He was a graduate of Muncie Central HS in 1964. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, serving in Vietnam as a Radio Operator in Dong Ha. He worked many years for Chrysler Motor Company, proudly retiring after 33 years of service in 2001.
Howard loved to spend time with his family, as home was where he was his happiest. He loved to tell stories and reminisce of days gone by, times in high school and teenage years and tales of fellow workers from Chrysler. He enjoyed camping, NASCAR races, working on cars and various projects around the house to keep him busy. He loved cars of all types, especially any Chrysler products. He enjoyed vintage car shows and exploring local junkyards with his best friend Ed Pierce, looking for any treasure they may discover. He loved dogs but his beloved bulldogs were his favorites. He was a loyal family man who could always be counted on in time of need, no matter the time of day or night. Quiet and mild-mannered, always friendly with a good word to say about everyone and quick to give a firm handshake and look you in the eye doing so. His family and friends will miss him very much but know we will see him again.
He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Janet, to whom he was devoted and loyal. He also leaves behind two daughters, Pamela (husband Scott) Lowe and Karan Lundy and a granddaughter, Marleen Gettinger.
Howard leaves behind many brother in-laws and sister in-laws, nieces and nephews whom he shared many great memories with. He also leaves behind his cherished best friend of many years, Donnie Ford.
Howard was preceded in death by his mother, Ardola Lundy, and father, John Lundy, as well as his brother, Donald Lundy. He was preceded in death by Pauline Lassitor, whom he lived with and worked for during his high school days. He was also preceded in death by his dear friend Ed Pierce.
