Howard Gene Neuman, age 81 of New Castle, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2008 following a brief illness. He was born February 21, 1927 in Raleigh, Indiana to the late Henry and Mildred Francis (Banks) Neuman.
He graduated from Connersville High School in 1945, and attended Oxford University in Miami, Ohio and Purdue University. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was stationed in Norfolk, VA. He was an active member of First Christian Church in New Castle, a member of New Castle Blue Lodge, the Scottish Rite and the Kiwanis Club. Gene worked for Modernfold for nearly 40 years and retired in 1989. He dearly loved spending time with his fellow retirees on the golf course at Memorial Park, as well as the time he spent with his family.
Survivors include two sons: Jeff (wife Cara) Neuman of New Castle and David (wife Kathi) Neuman of Naperville Illinois; a sister Nancy Will of Shelbyville; and five grandchildren Sarah, Andrew, Andrea, Jake and Julia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Clara May Neuman, and a brother Charlie Neuman.
Funeral services will be Tuesday October 7th at 10:00 AM at the Hinsey Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Keith Kincaid officiating. Burial will follow in Dale Cemetery in Connersville.
