Howard G. “John” Pennycuff, age 72, of New Castle passed away in his home Sunday, March 4, 2012. Although he was in failing health, death was unexpected. He was born December 17, 1939 in Albany, KY, a son of the late Alvis and Irene (Ferguson) Pennycuff.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he retired from Ferodo in 1999. He was also a motor route driver for The Courier-Times for the past 35 years. He loved to golf and he loved his cats. A former member of the Eagles and Moose Lodges, he also enjoyed playing BINGO.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Pennycuff of New Castle, whom he married September 9, 1975; three daughters, Kim (husband, Dan) Morgeson of New Castle, Monica Sullivan of Indianapolis, and Anita K. Pennycuff (companion, Pat Pogue) of Kokomo; a son, Wayne Pennycuff (companion, Kevin Troxell) of New Castle; a grandson whom he raised, David Kline of New Castle; additional grandchildren, Justin Guhr of Sherrilville, IN, Eric Morgeson of New Castle, Aaron (wife, Brandy) Lewis of Kokomo, Jimmy Sullivan of Carmel, Taylor Pennycuff of Lafayette, Stephen and Michael Kline, both of Cincinnati, eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Johnson of Anderson and Carol Huddleston of Louisville, KY, one brother, Don Pennycuff of Albany, KY, several nieces and nephews, aunts, and uncles. Also, special friends, Bill and Jeanne Conn of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvis and Irene Pennycuff,; an infant sister, Janet; grandson, Casey Parrish, and a son, David Kline.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with the Rev. Tim Dice officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens.
