Howard “Hank” Scott Shafer, age 48, of New Castle, passed away Monday, August 13, 2012 at his residence. He was born June 17, 1964 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Dick L. Shafer and Shirley (Hopkins) Shafer of New Castle.
Hank was a 1982 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School. He enjoyed racing, and was a sport, late model, and NASCAR fan. He loved his cats, WWII airplanes and their history. He also loved his little red truck that belonged to his Dad, and had a good feeling everywhere he drove it. Hank was formerly employed at Caterpillar Logistics, IPT and most recently, Pelican Products.
In addition to his mother, Hank is survived by his wife, Robin (Faurote) Shafer of New Castle; son, Matthew Shafer of New Castle; two daughters, Kirstyn and Karlee Jo Shafer both of New Castle; stepson, Brandon Craig of New Castle; three step grandchildren, Alex, Conlan and Hannah; siblings, Debbie (husband, John) Trent, Jeff (wife, Cathy) Shafer both of New Castle, Todd (wife, Stacy) Shafer of Kokomo, Lori (husband, James) Thompson and Joy (husband, Steve) Miller both of New Castle; In-laws, Jim and Nancy Faurote of New Castle and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by an uncle, Jim Hopkins.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Dennis Hilton officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens.
