Hubert E. Dishman, age 92, of Mooreland, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at Henry County Hospital. He was born September 22, 1916 in Slickford, Kentucky to the late Daniel and Willie (Hill) Dishman.
After coming to Indianapolis, he joined the 3 C’s serving in Bluffton, Ferdinand and Medaryville, Indiana. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army and Army Air Corp. He had worked at the Creosote plant in Indianapolis, International Harvester, Chrysler and Allison Engine Corporation. His last position was a butcher at Fort Harrison cutting and displaying meat, special cuts as requested by persons eligible to use comminsary. He loved to attend flea markets, listen to Blue Grass music and was an avid NASCAR fan.
Survivors include his wife: Marthan Dishman of Mooreland; a son: Tom (wife: Angie) Dishman; daughter: Louetta Dishman; grandchildren: Michele and Rebecca Dishman and Josh Byrd; life long friends: Carl Pace and Strut Martin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters: Flonnie Sinclair, Mossie Hogue, Louetta Downton, Beachie Dishman and Betty Richardson; four brothers: Minford, Staley, Ralph and Felix Dishman; a special cousin: Vade Dishman.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, October 31, 2008 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Henry County Hospital with envelopes available at the funeral home.
