INEZ M. JOHNSON, age 93, originally of New Castle, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Traditions at Stygler Road in Gahanna, Ohio. She was born May 1, 1918 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Chris and Julia (Doyle) Selke. She was married to the late Maurice Johnson for 69 years.
Inez retired from New Castle Welding where she was the bookkeeper/secretary. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, PSI Iota Xi Sorority and a Lady Elk. Some of her favorite things were spending time with her family and cooking their favorite dishes and desserts.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her daughter, Julie Walls; a sister, Dorothy (husband: Frank) Walls; and brother, Cortis Selke.
Survivors include her daughter, Judith (husband: David) Winslow of Gahanna, Ohio; son-in-law Frank (wife: Trish) Walls of Anderson, IN; grandchildren, Michelle (husband: Dayton) Saling of Heath, Ohio, Beth
(husband: David) Hunter of Palm Desert, California, Jeff (wife: Holly) Walls of New Castle, and Chris (wife: Rachel) Walls of New Castle; great grandchildren, Matthew Saling, Meredith, Madeline, and Michael Divine, Harley, Austin, and Colten Walls and Emma Walls; brother, Roland (wife: Wanita) Selke; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 23rd at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Rex Espiritu officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, May 22 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.
