Irene Conley, 85, of Muncie, passed away Friday, August 25, 2017 at Ball Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born September 25, 1931 in Bainbridge, Indiana, a daughter of the late Daniel Boone and Anna Lawrence (Gent) DeHart.
Irene was a life long member of the Pentecostal faith, and had attended Jackson Bible College (College of Ministries) in Jackson, Mississippi. She was happiest when sewing, working on various crafts, or organic gardening. She was also an accomplished artist and a published author. Family was always important to her, especially time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to study and write about Prophecy, and was working on her second book on the subject when she passed.
She is survived by her children, Edward (Linda) Conley of Sunset, SC, Larry (Debbie) Conley of Muncie, and Sheryl (Cliff) Batson of Rock Hill, SC; grandchildren, Kriss (Lori)Conley, Heather (Kevin) Fowler, Marquita (Willie) Berry, Jeremy Neal, Angel (Marcus) Wilson, Eric (Melissa) Hughes, Edward (Lisa) Conley, Nicole (Rob) Barry, Sara (Gary) Conley, Laura Conley, Rocky Burton, Jessie Burton, Melissa Batson, Ashly Scott, Douglas Conwell, Gabriel Swasey, and Brad Conwell; great grandchildren, Andrew, Kiana, Sara, Grace, Trey, Trinity, Kaci, Ryan, Jade, Hunter, Audrey, Adrina, Zachary, Alexis, Bailey, Aeris, Valerie, Abby, Gregory, Jacob, Devin, Seth, Hannah, and Aaron; great-great grandchildren, Prosper and Arabella; a sister, Edna (Frank) Goldsberry of Brandon, FL; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Conley, whom she married on September 5, 1947; daughter, Chaquita Hughes; brothers, Clifford, Oscar, Roy, and Ernie DeHart; sisters, Leora Fannin, Ona “Toots” Cox, Stella Schmidt, and Viola and Clona DeHart; a great-great grandchild, Noah.
“Momma’s going home party” will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 28, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in Lewisville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. You may share a condolence or memory of Irene at
