Irene Lee, age 79, of New Castle, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Glen Oaks Health Campus following an extended illness. She was born April 7, 1932 in Burkesville, Kentucky to the late Virgil and Marie (Melton) Smith.
An avid bowler, she also worked at the Rose Bowl in New Castle for many years and had also worked at Comfy Togs in New Castle. She was in charge of the concession stand at Little League baseball diamonds for several years.
Survivors include two children, Carolyn Bach (companion, Danny Cline) of New Castle and Steve (wife, Tara) Lee of Hebron, KY; five granddaughters, Kelly (husband, Ron) Telschow of Napanee, IN, Laura (husband, Mike) Murphy of Hagerstown, Stephanie (husband, James) Riley of Indianapolis, Audrey and Avery Lee, both of Hebron, KY; four great grandchildren, Logan Telschow, Lexie, Maddie and Emma Murphy; three sisters, Josephine (husband, Eugene) Rains of Mt. Summit, Olene Lindsey of New Castle and Judy (husband, John) Bauer of New Castle; a brother-in-law, Ray Butler of Knightstown; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee; an infant son, John Robert Lee; a grandson, Caleb Bach; a sister, Lisa Butler; a brother, Jimmy White.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Mark O’Brien officiating.
