Isaac M. Bell, age 84, of New Castle, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Hickory Creek of New Castle. He was born November 22, 1924 in New Castle, a son of the late Roy Hearldon and Addie (Catron) Bell.
He retired from Westinghouse in Muncie following 25 years of service. He was previously employed at Ingersoll Steel, Chrysler Corporation, and Gentry’s Cabinets in Anderson. He had previously attended Full Gospel Temple in Muncie and most recently Charity Baptist Church in New Castle. He and his wife enjoyed wintering in Florida for many years where he loved the beach and ocean. Being outdoors and watching the wildlife in his back yard was how he spent time in his most recent years. He was an avid collector of lighthouses and enjoyed attending gospel sings. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of over 65 years: Mary E. Bell of New Castle; five children: Ron (wife: Martha) Bell of Niles, MI, Linda (husband: Bob) Burris of New Castle, Barry Bell of New Castle, Kathy Grant of Bullhead City, AZ, Becky (husband: Edward) McConnell of Cambridge City; seven grandchildren: Lisa (husband: Jim) Klanke of Lees Summit, MO, Neil Burris of Chesterton, Jason (wife: Kelly) Burris of Fishers, Ben (wife: Liz) Grant of Kingman, AZ, Michael Grant of New Castle, Cheryl Sons of Carmel, Brian (wife: Alison) McConnell of Indianapolis; eleven great grandchildren: Hannah and Hallie Klanke, Nathan and Sam Burris, Riley and Jared Burris, Alexander Grant, Alex and Andrew Sons, Kyle and Katie McConnell; sisters: Emaline Pryor of New Castle, Marceline (husband: Howard) Pierce of Edwardsburg, MI, Bonnie (husband: Don) Warinner of Markleville; sister-in-law: Mary L. Bell of New Castle; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Walter H. Bell and Raymond W. Bell; a sister-in-law: Glee Bell.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Glenn Raney officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday, April 13, 2009 at the funeral home.
