Jack Elmore, age 74, of New Castle, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born October 21, 1938 in Anderson, Indiana to the late Edward Tilton and Eula (Branham) Elmore.
A veteran of the United States Navy, Jack retired from Dana Corporation following 30 years of service. He was also co-owner of Fadely’s Tavern in Middletown for 27 years. He graduated from Ivy Tech Community College with heating and cooling certification. Jack was a quiet peaceful man, was a wonderful husband and father and never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was a wonderful woodworker and enjoyed fishing, always keeping busy.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Patricia Elmore of New Castle; sons, Jack Elmore, Jr. of New Castle and Jeff (Melissa) Elmore of New Castle; grandchildren, Brittney Elmore of West Lafayette, Makena Elmore of New Castle and Kaylin Elmore of New Castle; siblings, Barbara, Bonnie and Mary Ann; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Porter Guthrie; a brother, Glendon Guthrie; grandson, Jared Levi Elmore.
Services will be at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Danny Douglas officiating. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the local VFW and American Legion with an active contingent from the United States Navy.
