Jack Lee Halstead, age 80 of Mooreland, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at the Heritage House. He was born June 21, 1933 in Randolph County, Indiana to the late Cletus Nelson and Virgie Evelena (Parks) Halstead.
Jack served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from Dana Corporation following 33 years of service. Jack was a member of the Mooreland Friends Meeting since 1954 where he served in several offices including Superintendent and Ministry and Oversight/Elders. He was past President and served on the town board. He enjoyed working around the house and gardening.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary Ann (Williams) Halstead of Mooreland; daughter, Leanna (Jeff) Himelick, of Muncie, IN; sons, Chris (Karla) Halstead, Ross (Judy) Halstead and Bill (Lisa) Halstead all of Mooreland, IN; grandchildren, Julie (Jay) Clapp of New Castle, IN, Craig (Kim) Swoveland of Mooreland, IN, Kaitlyn Thompson of Muncie, IN, Karen, Jacob, Haley, and Delaney Francis; four great grandchildren; brother-in-law, John (Terry) Williams; nephew, Richard Williams of Mooreland.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Mooreland Friends Meeting with Pastor Brenda Earley officiating. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be given to the Mooreland Volunteer Fire Dept., P.O.
