Jacqueline "Jacque" Goodson

Jacqueline “Jacque” Goodson, 75, of Hagerstown passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2023. She was born on November 8, 1947 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Willard Paul and Crystal Mae (Covalt) Smith.

Known to be kind to everyone, especially to her grandsons who were the light of her life and whom she loved very much; she enjoyed spending time with them by taking them to local parades and special events. Jacque was a 1966 graduate of Knightstown High School and was an avid high school and college basketball fan. She would often be found listening to several ball games at the same time while shouting orders and instructions to the team she was rooting for, which was usually the underdog or IU, “GO IU”. Obviously, Jacque was a huge IU fan but was also an Indianapolis Colts fan.

Jacque loved Florida especially the beaches, palm trees and lighthouses. She enjoyed restoring antique furniture, Hoosier Cabinets, and in her younger years she made crafty things. She had also spent time raising and breeding Cockatiels.

Jacque is survived by her children, Paul Goodson and Lindy Goodson both of Hagerstown; grandsons, Dakota Shane Young and Paul Ray Young III both of Hagerstown; three nieces and one nephew; her fur baby, Heeler/Chihuahua mix, Peppa Sue.

In addition to her parents, Jacque was preceded in death by her brothers, Arthur Smith and Rev. Donald Smith; son-in-law, Paul Ray Young Jr.; her favorite cat, Mittens.

At Jacque's request, services will be at the convenience of the family with burial in New Lisbon Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. You may express condolences or share memories of Jacque at www.hinsey-brown.com .
