James E. “Jim” Bell, age 78, of New Castle, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born April 5, 1934 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Jesse and Kathleen (Ward) Bell.
A veteran of the United States Army, he served during the Korean War. Jim retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1990 after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in New Castle, UAW #371, and the First Christian Church. He enjoyed playing Euchre and watching Indianapolis Colts football.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Pauline (Parrish) Bell; two daughters, Teresa (husband, Ed) Mullins of Muncie and Susan (husband, Kevin) Ison of Kokomo; granddaughter, Jennifer (husband, Jason) Otto of Muncie; grandson, Matthew Ison of Kokomo; nephew, Rodney Rattenborg of Iowa and several cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Rattenborg.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Mandye Yates officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2013 at the funeral home. Masonic Services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
