James D. Butler Sr.

James D. Butler Sr., 68 of Greenfield, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after a brief illness. He was born July 31, 1942 in Indianapolis, a son of the late Clarence Eugene and Catherine (Carter) Butler.
James was a minister of the gospel and had pastored several churches in Arizona. He had lived in Bloomington IN area for several years where he worked for Bounds and McPike Flooring as a carpet installer. He was also self-employed as a carpet installer for many years. A former member of the McCormick’s Creek United Pentecostal Church in Spencer, he is presently a member of Antioch The Apostolic Church in Indianapolis.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 52 years, Emma M. (Sater) Butler of Greenfield; five children, James D. Butler Jr. of Greenfield, Katherine White of Martinsville, Elizabeth (husband, Pastor Kent) Gray of Indianapolis, John E. Butler of Greenfield, Brian (wife, Rhonda) Butler of Bicknell; 29 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ann Mink of Roachdale and Cathy Rodriguez of Greenfield; two brothers, John Butler Sr. of Greenfield and Larry Butler of Scottsdale, AZ; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Joshua C. Butler; a nephew, John Carl Butler Jr.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Antioch The Apostolic Church with Pastor Kent Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Park East Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to the James D. Butler Sr. Memorial Fund with envelopes available at the church. Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
