James Oliver "Ollie" Davenport, 64, of New Lisbon passed away unexpectedly Sunday, November 23, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born April 3, 1950 in New Castle, Indiana a son of the late Ovid Walden and Lela Mabel (Criswell) Davenport.
A 1968 graduate of Walter P .Chrysler High School, he enjoyed farming and helping others. James retired in 2002 from the Chrysler Corporation after 36 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra L. Davenport of New Castle; son, James Oliver (Tia) Davenport Jr. of Sulphur Springs; daughter, Pamela L. Hubbard of New Castle; grandchildren, Cathryn Hubbard, Kristin Simpkins, and Alex Davenport; sisters, June Wilson, Velta (Carl) Surber, Lucy (Bob) Stevens, all of New Castle and Rita (Ronnie) Mace of Tennessee; brothers, Glenn (Cindy) Davenport of Straughn and David (Tami) Davenport of Hanover, Indiana.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Silas William Wilson.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Steve Gallaway officiating. Burial will follow at Batson Cemetery.
