James T. “Shorty†Dick, age 76, of New Castle, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at his residence. He was born September 29, 1932 in Monticello, Kentucky to the late Arnold and Ollie (Dabney) Dick.
He retired in 2000 from New Castle National Guard Armory working in maintenance for over 27 years. He was a member of Beulah Breakers and Henry County REACT. He enjoyed fishing, CB Club, riding mopeds and was an avid bird watcher.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years: Patricia Dick of New Castle; two children: Gay Lynn (husband: Donald) Mullins of New Castle and James Thomas (wife: Debra) Dick, Jr. of Spiceland; a very special friend and helper: Steve Fultz of Kennard; four grandchildren: Midnight Dawn Fultz (companion: Tyler Carnes) Tabitha Marie Fultz, Brandon Wolfe and Bradley Wolfe, all of New Castle; a great granddaughter: Lilyona Star Carnes; three sisters: Dorotha Sexton and Helen (husband: Roy) Groce both of New Castle, Nancy (husband: Cliff) Runyon of Mooreland; two brothers: Jack (wife: Sandy) Dick of New Castle and Bobby (wife: Joyce) Dick of Mooreland; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Fred Dick, and a brother in infancy, Billy Joe Dick.
Following cremation, memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Paul Davis officiating. Friends may call from noon until time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Henry County Cancer Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.
