James Riley George, 93, of Spiceland, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at the Waters of New Castle following a brief illness. He was born March 26, 1923 in Owen County, Indiana, the son of the late Earl Washington and Ida Mae (Stevens) George.
He retired from Chrysler after 43 years of employment. Jim was a member of the New Lisbon Christian Church and had served as an Elder and Sunday School Teacher at Sexton Christian Church. He enjoyed gardening and raising flowers and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He leaves to cherish his memory four sons, Roger (Carol) George of Norwalk, OH, Jim (Janet) George of Muncie, Dennis (Cathy) George of Spiceland, and Robert George of New Castle; a daughter, Donna Sue (Tom) Roginski of Mertztown, PA; 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; two nieces, Judy (Bob) Ludwig and Carole (Steve) Pine; two nephews, Steve (Donna) Wilson and Charlie Joe (Mira) Wilson.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Ethel Weber George, a grandson, Andy George; brother, Dale George; and two sisters, Edna Wilson and Martha Beck.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Darryl Denney officiating. Burial will follow in Circle Grove Cemetery in Spiceland. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
