James P. “Jim” Gregory, age 73, of Dandridge, Tennessee, passed away April 21, 2013 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was born, December 4, 1939 in Monticello, Kentucky, to the late Jesse and Mary (Roysdon) Gregory.
A past resident of Monticello, KY, Kennard, Anderson and New Castle, Indiana, he retired from Chrysler Corporation in 2004 following 38 years of service. He served in the United States Army military police. He was on the Kennard Volunteer Fire Department, Indiana State Arson Squad and Henry County Arson Squad where he served as secretary. He was a member of the Good Fellowship Community Church of Dandridge, Tennessee. Jim loved country music, rodeos, Louis L’amour books, collecting antiques and traveling.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Gregory of Dandridge, TN; four daughters, Jama (husband, Rob) Wisehart, Robin (husband, Jeff) Pennington, Carol Gregory, and Allison (husband, David) Todd all of New Castle, IN; two step-daughters, Sherry (husband, Mario) Garcia of Kyle, TX and Lee (husband, Mike) Mesnard of Oak Ridge, TN; ten grandchildren; thirty four great grandchildren; two brothers, Kenny (wife, Kathy) Gregory of Markleville, IN and Donald Gregory of Ocala, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jesse and Mary Gregory, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Jane Phyllis Gregory; two sisters-in-law, Donna Griffin and Linda Gregory.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend James Judd and Pastor Danny Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2013 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Labre Indian School, Ashland, MT, 59004, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
