James Lee Kinnett, age 69, of New Castle, passed away Friday, December 4, 2015 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center in New Castle. He was born January 17, 1946 in New Castle to the late Lee and Laura (McClain) Kinnett.
A 1964 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School, Jim retired from Delco Remy Corporation in Anderson in 1996 after 33 years of service. He was a lifelong farmer in Henry County, most recently for Armstrong Farms. He was a past member of the Eagles and Moose Lodges in Celina, Ohio. Jim was a member of the Griswold Cast Iron Association. He enjoyed attending NASCAR races, camping and IU basketball. Jim loved his dogs and had the same line of Boxers for over 40 years.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Pat (Jackson) Kinnett of New Castle; son, K. Michael (Penny) Kinnett of Waldron, IN; grandsons, Jacob and Logan Kinnett; sister, Wanda Kissick of New Castle; brother, Phil “Buckwheat” Kinnett of Middletown; several nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Ronnie McCambridge of Mechanicsburg, Gene Byrne of Greenwood, Stephen Jackson of New Castle and Mike (Charlotte) Jackson of Carmel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Anita McCambridge and Janet Byrne; his in-laws, Floyd and Ethel Jackson.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Tom McGilliard officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Summit Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Monday, December 7, 2015 at the funeral home.
