James Nathan Raines

James Nathan Raines, age 37, of New Castle passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 30, 2010. He was born December 1, 1972 in Muncie, Indiana to Jimmy and Loretta (Lee) Raines.

He was a 1991 graduate of Shenandoah High School, where he played trumpet in the band. He had also attended Indiana State University. He was formerly employed by the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier. Nathan attended the Mooreland Friends Meeting for many years.

Nathan leaves to cherish his memory, his children, whom he dearly loved, Nicholas Raines of Muncie, Alex Raines of New Castle, Kaitlyn and Shelby Raines both of New Castle; parents, Jimmy and Loretta Raines of New Castle; a sister, Bonnie (husband, John) Fredericks and their children, Corey, Aric and Evan Fredericks all of Pendleton; a brother, Josh (wife, Beth) Raines and their son, Layne Raines all of Muncie; paternal grandmother, Sadie Shepperd of Monticello, KY; several aunts and uncles, Pat (husband, Homer) Hicks, Ernestine (husband, Clarence) Hunt, Bernice Messer, Paul Lee, Pat Lee, Tim Lee, Rachel Griffey, Hazel Troxell, Shirley Rains, and Guy “Pete” Rains; several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dottie (husband, Walter) Lee; paternal grandfather, Fred Rains; uncle, Wendell Rains.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Bro. Bobby Slagle officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition.
