James "Jimmy" Shelley

January 30, 1944 — June 12, 2009

James E. “Jimmy” Shelley, age 65, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 12, 2009 at Henry County Hospital. He was born January 30, 1944 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Orville and Mary (Huse) Shelley.

Jimmy was a member of the Church of Christ at 304 N. 14th Street, where he loved attending. He had resided at McSherr Group Home on McCormick Drive for the past 10 years and was presently employed at Hillcroft Services. Jimmy loved people especially his friends and staff at the group home, his church, and his family. He also enjoyed art, playing the piano and singing.

He leaves to cherish his memory, an uncle: Charles Huse of New Castle; several cousins including his guardian: David (wife: Ruthann) Miers and Gene (wife: Linda) Miers both of Spiceland, Esther Shelley, Linda Guinn, Steve (wife: Gladell) Huse, Maurice (wife: Linda) True, Paul (wife: Barbara) Huse all of New Castle, Judy (husband: Duncan Carlie) Crabtree of Monticello, KY, Phyllis (husband: Phil) Cherry of Arlington, IN, Rebecca Owens and Phil (wife: Donna) Miers both of Mooreland, Paul Miers of Hermitage, TN, Ron (wife: Carolyn) True of Cambridge City, Donald (wife: Mary Louise) Huse of Van Wert, OH, and Sharon Huse of Avon; many friends and co-workers.

He was preceded in death by his father: Orville Shelley in 1979 and his mother Mary Anna Shelley in 2000; several aunts and uncles.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Bob Caudill officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the McSherr Group Home or Henry County Heart Association with envelopes available at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.hinsey-brown.com .
