James Winchester

December 11, 1921 — November 10, 2010

James W. Winchester, age 88, of New Castle, passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at Henry County Hospital. He was born December 11, 1921 in Somerset, Kentucky to the late Edward and Ina (Frogge) Winchester.

He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in WWII. James retired form Chrysler Corporation in 1965 after 36 years of service as a pipe fitter and had previously sold Kirby Vacuum Cleaners. He was a member of the Lewisville Masonic Lodge and UAW. He was an avid golfer and played the lottery. He enjoyed working around the house, gardening and yard work.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia A. Winchester of Fishers; a son, Tim L. Winchester of Fishers; one granddaughter, Marci J. Winchester of Anderson; one great granddaughter, Mandy D. Garner of New Castle; one sister, Jewell (husband, Richard) Pate Thurman of Lewisville; a brother, John Winchester of Topeka, KS; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eula G. (Hinshaw) Winchester in 2003; a son, Mark Winchester in 2006; three brothers, Jesse Edward II, Julius S. and Jarrell R. Winchester.

Military Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Masonic Service immediately following. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.
