Jana Shelton

Jana Lynn Shelton, age 50, of New Castle, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at her residence. She was born June 1959 in New Castle, Indiana to Franklin and Faye (Tucker) Retz.

Jana was a loving daughter, sister and first & foremost a mother. She was a 1977 graduate of Chrysler High School. She worked at Modernfold from 1988-1991 as accounts payable clerk, Simply Cross Stitch 1992-1997 as owner and Henry County Courthouse in the Auditor’s office from 1998 to present. She had been an Elks member for 6 years. An avid cross-stitcher, she stitched many award winning pictures. She enjoyed spending time with her daughters and her dog, Savannah and grand-dog, Gunner. Jana also enjoyed decorating for all the four seasons of the year and planting flowers. She loved listening to music by her favorite artist Bob Segar and collecting I Love Lucy memorabilia. She loved playing pool and would challenge anyone to a good game. Jana also enjoyed cooking, her specialty being chicken & noodles. She had lots of great friends that will remember her for her huge beautiful smile, laughter and friendship.

Survivors include her daughters, Michelle Meikamp (special friend, Ben Walters) and Megan Shelton; mother, Faye Retz (special friend, Ray Smith); brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Denise Retz; nephew, Tanny Retz; niece, Tonya Reed; great nephew, Caleb DeRosa; great niece, Nicole DeRosa; special friends, Jay Shelton, Ilene and David Pentecost.

She was preceded in death by her father, Franklin Retz August 19, 1990.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Jack Hannum officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
