Jane Solida

Jane Solida, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly Friday, November 25, 2011 while visiting her son in Greenville, South Carolina over Thanksgiving. She was born April 29, 1948 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Reece and Martha (Hauser) Baughn.
A 1966 graduate of Walter P. Chrysler High School in New Castle, she also attended Ball State University. She had previously worked in the corporate office of VAL Discount Stores in New Castle, Citizens Federal Savings and Loan and was secretary for Holy Trinity Lutheran church for several years. For the past 17 years, Jane had been employed as secretary for David A. Dickey, DDS. She was also the financial secretary for the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, and had served in that position for approximately 30 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her many close friends, and dearly loved her pets.
Survivors include two sons, Cary (wife, Cassandra) Solida of Indianapolis and Evan Solida (fiancé, Erin) of Greenville, SC; a brother, Joseph (wife, Sandy) Baughn of Indianapolis; two nephews, James Baughn of Indianapolis and Andrew Baughn of Coldwater, MI; sister-in-law, Joy Spinney of Rushville; several cousins including Jim Moyer of New Castle; the god-mother to her children, Mary Dankovich of New Castle; many special friends; her dog Joey and her two cats.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Solida in 2005; maternal grandparents, Jim and Fay Hauser; paternal grandmother, Anna Baughn.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in New Castle. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be given to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 535 S. 14th St., New Castle, IN 47362, and Henry County Humane Society, 11 Midway Drive, New Castle, IN 47362, and with envelopes available at the funeral home.
