Janet Baker

Janet Baker, 72, a resident of New Castle passed away Friday, February 28, 2025 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie She was born October 23, 1952 in New Castle to the late Caleb and Edith (Morgan) Slagle.

A graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School, Janet retired from Foam Rubber Corp. She enjoyed playing BINGO, collecting bear figurines and playing Monopoly GO. Janet also loved her cat Shadow and was a fan of Judge Judy on television.

Survivors include two children: Aaron (Heather) Baker of Lafayette and Traci Baker of New Castle; four grandchildren: Hannah Baker, Ava (Ethan) Fleming, Eden and Luke Baker; two sisters: Linda (Steve) Brown of Middletown and Jeanette “Jeannie” Smith of New Castle; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Ronald, Benny and Timothy Slagle and a sister: Rhonda Didley.

Services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Mark Herbkersman officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. You may express condolences or share memories of Janet at www.hinsey-brown.com.
