Janet S. Dobbs

Janet S. Dobbs, 86, of New Castle, went home peacefully to be with the Lord, at Henry Community Health on March 22, 2025.

She was born on October 2, 1938 and raised by her parents, Jim and Wanda Keesling. She was married to Max Zirkle in 1955 and was married for 23 years, where they lived and raised their children in Middletown. She was married later to Gene Dobbs in 1982 until he passed in 2005. Janet and Gene worked for the Milk barns where they met. They went on to own the Pet World pet shop in New Castle until they retired. She loved doing things with family, laughing and having fun. She returned to school in 1976 to get her high school diploma. She attended classes at Shenandoah High School and finished with the Class of '77. She was so proud of this accomplishment.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan Driskill (Mike) of Mt. Summit, a son, Steve Zirkle of Van Wert, Ohio; sister, Sharon Keesling of New Castle; aunt, Joyce Hall of New Castle; 12 grandchildren, Jamie Manning (Brad), Chris Martin (Anne), Kim Goad (Michael), Joseph Driskill (Ashley), Paul Driskill, John Zirkle (Alexandrea), Michael Zirkle, Mindy Hague (Josh), Heather Zirkle, Abbie Veda (Brandon), Brandon Dobbs, and Jessica Lee (Michael); 25 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; numerous nephews, cousins and a special friend and neighbor, Marty Atkins.

Preceded in death, her parents, Jim and Wanda Keesling, husband, Gene Dobbs; sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Russell Jacobs, Jr.; sons, David and Danny Dobbs; granddaughter, Stephanie Zirkle Wade.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Mark Bauman officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery.
