Janice Kay Darnell

Janice Kay (Doss) Darnell, 80, of New Castle and formerly of Muncie passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at St. Vincent Anderson Hospital. She was born June 19, 1944 in Muncie to the late Fred C. Doss and Betty (Withers) Kiphart.

Janice was a graduate of Muncie Central High School then went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. She devoted her life as a Registered Nurse, caring for elderly.

Left to cherish her memory is her step-father, Richard Kiphart; daughters, Kristi Davis of Muncie and Traci (Todd) Holmes of New Castle; grandchildren, Jena Ciempola of Muncie, David (Brittany) Ciempola of Anderson, Chelsye Davis of Royerton, Brittany (Cory) Riggs of New Castle, Tiffany (Brandon) Truitt of New Castle, Sarah (Alex) Boyd of New Castle and Tyler Holmes of San Diego, California; 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Greg Darnell; son, David A. Mitchell; son-in-law, Patrick Davis; siblings, Nancy Herdering, Sandy Renegar, Fred Doss; and her step-mother, Reoma Doss.
