Janice M. Hacker, 79, of Franklin, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Johnson Memorial Hospital. She was born July 6, 1932 in Indianapolis, the daughter of Karl and Hazel (Evans) Houston.
Janice was a loving and devoted wife, mom and grandma. A 1950 graduate of Howell High School in Indianapolis, she had worked as a bookkeeper for U-Haul and Curtis-Dyna Products in Westfield. Janice formerly owned “Jan’s Flower Café” in Westfield. She was a member of the Westfield Order of the Eastern Star, Red Hat Society, Bridge, Euchre and Pinochle Club - she loved to play cards. She also enjoyed reading, doing puzzle books, going to the horse track, watching mystery shows, old time movies, Wheel of Fortune and her favorite, Jeopardy. Janice and her husband, Bob, enjoyed traveling to Florida in their motor home and eventually moved there for 8-10 years.
Janice leaves to cherish her memory two sons: John K. Lewis, Jr. of New Castle; Jeffrey M. (Deborah) Lewis of Fishers; daughter: Jane Ann Selm of Dayton, OH; step-daughter: Cathy James of Noblesville; grandchildren: Ryan L. Meadows of Indianapolis, Krystal L. Simpson of Dayton, OH, Timothy and Abby James of Indianapolis, Emily (Billy) Potter of Indianapolis; great grandchildren: Tyler Meadows; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Robert W. Hacker; former husband: John K. Lewis.
Graveside service will be at 10:30 AM Friday, March 2, 2012 at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Zionsville with Chaplain Charles Stanley officiating. Friends may call from 2-4 PM Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at the Franklin Masonic Home – Ransford Chapel with Order of Eastern Star service at 4:00 PM. Friends may also call from 4-8 PM Thursday, March 1 at Shirley Brothers Mortuary Castleton Chapel at 9900 N. Allisonville Road in Fishers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G.
