Jennifer Lou (Ice) Bell, 66, passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 1, 2016 at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, IN after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Jennifer was born in Muncie on April 8, 1950 and grew up outside of Mt. Summit, IN on the family dairy farm. She attended Mt. Summit Elementary School and graduated from Blue River Valley Jr-Sr High School in 1968. Jennifer graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelors degree in elementary education in 1972 and earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Ball State in 1975. She taught 2nd Grade and Kindergarten at Shenandoah Elementary School for 23 years retiring in 2011.
Jennifer married Charles Bell on June 10, 1972 and they moved back to the farm in 1976 where they still resided. Jennifer was an active member of the Buck Creek Church of the Brethren where she helped her husband with pastoral responsibilities, was active in the Women’s Fellowship Group and led Children’s Church. She was also an active member of the Blue River Valley Optimist Club where she served as Club President in 1997-98. Jennifer was an avid reader and enjoyed completing craft projects that involved painting and drawing. She enjoyed travel, especially taking cruises, taking care of her flowers, attending musicals and stage plays and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren.
Jennifer is survived by her husband, Charles; daughter, Angela C. Miller (Aaron) of New Castle, granddaughter, Rylee, grandson, Kolby; son, C. Matthew Bell (Danielle) of Middletown, grandsons, Marc, Christian and Collin; parents, Richard and Joan Ice of Mt. Summit; brother, Joe Ice (Betty Ann) of Greensburg and sister, Jillian Cook (David) of Knightstown.
Visitation will be Friday, June 3, 2016, from 4-8pm at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle and the funeral will be at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service on Saturday, June 4, at 10 AM. Burial will be in the Mt. Summit Cemetery at a future date.
