Jennifer Ballard Duvall

Jennifer Lynn Ballard DuVall, age 49, passed away, Monday, June 15, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born August 8, 1959 in New Castle, Indiana to Donald M. and Patsey L. (Marsh) Ballard.

She had been employed at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. She was involved with Operation Lifesaver to promote railroad grade crossing safety, affiliated with Norfolk & Southern Railways. She held speaking engagements across the county to promote railroad safety. She was a 1977 graduate of Blue River Valley High School where she was involved in volleyball, basketball, track and journalism. She had also attended Ball State University and was in the Honor Society. She was an outstanding wife, mother, daughter and aunt and loved her family dearly.

Survivors include her husband: Shane F. DuVall of New Castle; a son: Joshua Destry DuVall; father: Donald M. Ballard (wife: Evie Ellen) of Millville; a brother: Michael P. (wife: Cynthia) Ballard of Kokomo; two nieces: Kylie Jeanne and Hannah Lou Ballard; mother-in-law: Lawanna Rose DuVall of New Castle; several aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her mother: Patsey Lou (Marsh) Ballard; maternal grandparents: Estill C. and Mabel Marsh, paternal grandparents: Donald G. and Julia D. Ballard and her father-in-law; James F. DuVall.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Matt Perdue officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the funeral home.
