Jerry R. Day Sr.

Jerry R. Day, Sr., 71, of Knightstown, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. He was born August 18, 1941 in New Castle the son of Jerry Herbert and Hazel Ailene (Wadman) Day.

He attended Knightstown High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Jerry retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1990 after 28 years of service. He was a member of the Knightstown American Legion. He loved to fish, hunt and spend time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include three sons: Jerry R. (Laura Elaine) Day, Jr. of Carthage, Martin “Marty” Allen Day and Joe (Andrea) Day both of Knightstown; 10 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister: Linda Jones of Cambridge City; several nieces and nephews and a companion: Beverly Lee of New Castle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife: Diana L. (Rhodes) Day; second wife: Vickie J. (Johnson) Day; brother: Danny L. Day; and son: Mark Allen Rhodes.

Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, June 3, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Knightstown American Legion Post 152 and an active duty contingent from the U.S. Army. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Sunday.
