Jesse A. “Melons” Roll, age 60, of Kokomo and formerly of Henry County, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at his residence. He was born December 9, 1952 in Henry County to the late Earl and Mary (Payton) Roll.
A 1973 graduate of Knightstown High School, he had been employed at Chrysler Corporation in New Castle and Kokomo for 40 years. He had also worked for Luellen Brothers Grain Bin for 10 years. Mr. Roll was a member of the Eagles and Moose Lodge #147 as well as the American Legion, all in New Castle. He enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, camping and riding his Harley.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Roll; daughter, Jodie (Jason) Lorton of New Castle; grandchildren, Allison, Braden and Caitlin Lorton all of New Castle; brothers, Herschel (Linda) Roll of Fishers and Robert (Geraldine) Roll of Richmond; sisters, Nancy Roll Wheeler of Tell City and Edith (Riggie) Calciano of Kennard; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Randy and Ronald Roll; grandchild, Theodore Alexander Lorton; niece, Ranee Orr; nephew, Michael Roll.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Tom Roll and Pastor Marion McFarland officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. There will be an Eagles Memorial Service.
