Jessica Wantz

Jessica Lynn Wantz, 19, went to be with her Heavenly Father, Saturday, January 9, 2010. She was born November 5, 1990 in Muncie, Indiana to Michael A. and Susan J. (Dickerson) Wantz.

Jessica attended Sunnyside Elementary School where she was in the Focus Program and attended New Castle Chrysler High School, where she was in the marching band and drumline, until she transferred to the Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics, and the Humanities, from which she graduated with honors in May of 2009. A Lilly Scholarship Finalist, Jessica was a member of the First Baptist Church in New Castle, and was involved with the youth group. She was a 10 year 4-H member, and completed projects in horse & pony, swine, dogs, foods, clothing, veterinary science, and others.

Jessica had begun her studies at “her dream college,” The New College of Florida, an honors college in Sarasota, Florida, where she was pursuing a degree in veterinary science. While there, she was also mentoring “at risk” middle school students, and she had just completed her scuba certification.

She will be sadly missed by: her parents, Michael and Susan Wantz of New Castle; two brothers, Bradley Wantz of Astoria, NY and Christopher Wantz of New Castle; grandparents, Joan Wantz of New Castle and Eugene J and Dorothy Dickerson of New Castle; aunts and uncles including, Steve and Donna Wantz of Brownsburg; Carol Madison of Lexington, KY, Nancy Dickerson of New Castle, and Greg and Rose Dickerson of Nashville, IN; as well as several cousins, extended family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Merrill Wantz, her grandmother, Phyllis Boiles Dickerson, an aunt, Debbie Wantz Weitzel, a cousin, and recently by her great- grandmother, Eunice Boiles

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with the Reverends Jack Hannum, Chris Peoples and Jerry Ingalls officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jessica Lynn Wantz 4-H Scholarship Fund/Henry County Community Foundation or the Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics, and the Humanities with envelopes available at the funeral home.
