Jessie K. Appleby, 76, of New Castle, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by his family Sunday, April 15, 2012 at St. Vincent Hospice. He was born August 3, 1935 in Clinton County, KY a son of Sherman and Georgia (Guthrie) Appleby.
Jessie was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1994 after 30 years of service. He was a member of Whittier Lane Baptist Church. He had previously served as a deacon and church treasurer at Liberty Baptist Church and Immanuel Baptist Church. Following retirement, he and his wife enjoyed going to auctions and flea markets and having sales. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 50 years: Frances Sidwell Appleby, whom he married June 17, 1961; two sons: John (Sheila) Appleby of Springport, James (Samantha) Appleby of Muncie; 5 grandchildren: Leah (Grant) Michael, Lori Appleby (fiancé: Aaron Evans), Leslie Appleby, Clayton & Jacob Appleby; 2 sisters: Gleneve Robinson of Campbellsville, KY, Margaret (Paul) Brown of Albany, KY; a brother: Kenneth (Beula) Appleby of Millville; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother: Ray Appleby and a twin sister: Bessie Sidwell.
Services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverends Frank Wood, Leonard Dice and Melvin Daniel officiating.
