Jim York, 69, a man after God’s own heart, went to be with Jesus following a brief battle with leukemia. He was born July 13, 1942 in Albany, Kentucky to the late Marvin and Pearl (Clark) York.
A 1959 graduate of Clinton County High School, Jim was a Seabee in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1997 after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Albany, Kentucky and was also a Shriner. An avid woodworker, he loved spending time in his workshop. A true servant, Jim was a member of the Sulphur Springs Christian Church, and he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Peggy A. York of New Castle; two children, Jim York II (wife, Jenny) of Middletown and Leann (husband, C. J.) Buskirk of Middletown; four grandchildren, Zack and Nick York of Middletown and Abby and Anna Buskirk of Middletown; a sister, Doris (husband, Don) Hicks of Campbellsburg, IN; a brother, Billy York of Gas City, IN; several nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Linda Craven (friend, Nik Shah) of Florence, KY; brother-in-law, Steve (wife, Enid) Wallace of Albany, KY.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
A Celebration of Life will be at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Sulphur Springs Christian Church with Pastor C.J. Buskirk officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. A private burial will be held at Miller Cemetery in Middletown. Memorial contributions may be given to the Sulphur Springs Christian Church, Building Fund, 3368 W. St. Rd. 36, Middletown, IN 47356 or the Middletown Church of the Nazarene, Building Fund, 698 N.
