John L. Bryson, 81, of Spiceland, passed away Friday, February 21, 2025, at The Waters of Muncie following an extended illness. He was born June 12, 1943, in Spiceland to the late Ruel Snow and Lucille Grace (Wise) Bryson.
A 1961 graduate of Spiceland High School, John was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he obtained rank of Sergeant. He retired from Dana Corporation in New Castle following 32 ½ years of service.
A member of Spiceland Friends Meeting, John enjoyed fishing, target shooting, camping, and breeding, raising, and showing Arabian horses. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, American Legion, and Eagles and Moose Lodges.
He leaves to cherish his memory, two sisters, Betty Moffitt of Spiceland and Judy Lewman of Greenfield; a brother, Ed (Ginny) Bryson of Spiceland; several nieces and nephews, including Mike (Jennifer) Bryson of Spiceland, who was John’s caregiver.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Bryson; a sister, Carolyn (Dick) Wolski; brothers in law, Max Moffitt and Ralph Lewman.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with David Brock officiating. Burial will follow in Circle Grove Cemetery in Spiceland.
