John Duncan

John Robert Duncan, age 54, of Seymour, passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour. He was born March 3, 1956 in New Castle, Indiana to John R. and Betty H. (Barrier) Duncan.

He was a 1974 graduate of Walter P. Chrysler Memorial High School and was also a graduate of ITT Technical Institute with a degree in Electronics Engineering. He had been employed at Cisco Systems and Sun Micro Systems. He was presently employed at American Family Dental Group as Chief Technical Officer. His most important interest was spending time with his family. John was an avid HAM radio operator with the call sign N1MYT.

Survivors include his mother, Betty Duncan of New Castle; a son, Jonathon R. (Theresa) Duncan of Indianapolis; a grandson, Jordan Duncan of Indianapolis; three sisters, Karen (husband, Tim) Preble of New Castle, Deborah Alderson of Evansville and Jennifer L. (husband, Rex) Current of New Castle; nieces and nephews, Tom (wife, Michelle) Preble, Kate (husband, Gary) Studt, Mary (husband, Ryan) Higgins, Margaret (husband, Josh) Richardson, Aaron and Adam Alderson, Carrissa and Caraline Current; aunts, Hazel Back and Marjorie Huffaker; uncle, Don Barrier, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, John R. Duncan.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Stephen Gallaway officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2010 at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.hinsey-brown.com .
